4. Panic attacks
This might be one of the most evident signs of anxiety and is usually present in those who have panic disorder, another type of anxiety disorder that is characterized by recurrent panic attacks.
During a panic attack, a feeling of intense fear takes over your body, and you can’t control it. It’s overwhelming, and it affects your day-to-day life. Some panic attacks can last for 15–20 minutes, while others can last for hours or even days. This is usually when you have more panic attacks, one after the other.
How do I recognize a panic attack? There are some clear signs that indicate you are having a panic attack: chest tightness, rapid heartbeat, shaking, shortness of breath, nausea, and sweating.
What you can do during a panic attack to calm yourself down is try some breathing exercises. Inhale for 4 seconds, keep your breath for another 4 seconds and then exhale for 4 seconds. Repeat this until you feel better.
