8 Times You Should Say ‘NO’ for a Better Life

8. Take your time when responding to messages

After social media began to be part of our day-to-day lives, we became used to typing and responding to friends in a second. But is this a really good idea? Back in the day, people used to call when there was something urgent to discuss, and the messages were completely nonexistent. Even if this sounds like it happened centuries ago, we think sometimes it’s nice to go back to those times.

Dealing with messages on a regular basis can be stressful. Instead of feeling obligated to respond to messages right away, set aside time whenever you can to do so. If it’s more convenient for you, you can designate times during the day for responding and disable unnecessary phone notifications. Close any type of screen once you’re working on something important to you. Instead of continually checking your devices, since it might be overwhelming, try to be more present in your daily life.

Bottom line

Learning how to say a firm “no” can be difficult, but once you master it, you will feel less stressed and more focused on your life. You don’t need to feel guilty about putting yourself first because refusing to do something can actually make you happier and more responsible for your sanity, energy, and time.

Once you learn how to say no in a respectful manner, your life will be so much better!
