“I’m listening.”

Disagreements are a part of life. But supporting each other through active listening is essential to becoming a  successful couple.

You should be willing to give up your desire to be right all the time or get your point across long enough to really hear and sympathize with your spouse’s point of view.

“I believe in you.”

When self-doubt begins to creep in, having someone in your corner who’s on your side can nourish you with a much-needed morale boost. This is what being a successful couple is all about.

What the subject is about shouldn’t matter. Receiving some sort of assurance from your significant other can remind you that you’re competent at what you want to achieve. This can also sound like: I trust your judgment, or I know you’ll ultimately make the right decision.

No matter what form of reassurance you use, telling your companion that you have complete confidence in their capabilities of navigating situations in their lives and important choices makes them feel more secure and confident in themselves.
