10 Dangerous Dementia Myths That Give You the WRONG Diagnosis

Dementia is only a concern for older adults

Age is indeed a risk factor for dementia patients, but in some cases, this disease might impact younger adults too. Some scientists even estimate that among people who are 30 to 64 years old, 0.038–0.26%  develop early-onset dementia. As the age bracket advances, the number increases to 0.4%.

Aluminum pans might cause Alzheimer’s

Back in the 1960s, scientists conducted experiments on rabbits by injecting high levels of aluminum. Soon enough, they found out that the animals developed all sorts of neurological lesions, which were very similar to those that form in the brains of people with Alzheimer’s.

Besides, similar studies discovered that aluminum within the plaques is also associated with Alzheimer’s. But here’s the thing: aluminum also shows up in the healthy brain, and researchers haven’t yet established if there’s a causal link between the element and the disease, so to conclude that aluminum pans cause Alzheimer’s would be wrong.
