2. Things you should never tell your grandchildren? “It’s not that big of a deal.”

Let’s say that your grandkid gets into a fight with their friend, and as a result, they now have a skinned knee. They are devastated, and they come at you crying like there is no tomorrow. What are you doing next?

It might not seem like a big deal to you, but for them, this is an event that shakes their whole world. First of all, they are injured and it hurts, and secondly, they feel like they have lost a friend, which can actually hurt more than the knee.

Yes, this happens in anyone’s childhood; it happened to you, and it happened to any other adult we can ask, but the way you see things now is so much different than how you used to see them or how your grandchild sees them.

Telling them that it is not that big of a deal is not really helping them. It might actually make them feel alone and misunderstood. You should make an effort and try to support them as much as you can. They need someone by their side.

Remember that this is one of the things you should never tell your grandchildren.
