Determine Where Things Started Going Wrong

This can be a complex piece of advice to hear. The infidelity wasn’t your fault, and you shouldn’t take any responsibility for your significant other’s actions. Nevertheless, specific stressors and triggers could increase the possibility of infidelity.

If you can trace any of them back to your partner’s affair, you may be able to prevent it from ever happening again. For instance, research has shown that couples with attachment anxiety are more at risk for infidelity.

Attachment anxiety is very repairable with the right kind of therapy. So you can move forward in your relationship with a solution-based approach to keeping the trust in your union.
