Drug-seeking behavior

If your insurance company quickly understands your newest hobby (doctor shopping), then you’ll probably end up paying for your own medications. Or, you might start asking friends and family members if they have some leftover opiates somewhere around their house, well hidden in their medicine cabinets.

At some point, your drug-seeking behavior will get noticed. Some people even end up stealing medicines from their loved ones, while others refuse to show up to work because they’re too busy lurking on the streets looking out for meds.

Withdrawal

The second sign that you are addicted is withdrawal. You might become extremely agitated, and you might not notice because you’re too busy trying to find the medications.

If you suddenly stop taking the meds, you might experience a couple of excruciating physical symptoms, such as a fluctuation in heart rate and blood pressure, flushing, hot flashes, vomiting, goose-flesh, a lot of sweating, and muscle pain. You might also notice restless leg syndrome, nausea, and diarrhea.
