Can you spot a sociopath?

A sociopath is a term to describe someone with a severe form of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). Sociopaths don’t have a fully functional conscience and tend to be exploitative, manipulative, or even abusive towards other people.

While the terms sociopath and psychopath are sometimes used interchangeably, many psychologists argue that there are differences between the two. Similar to sociopathic people, psychopaths have antisocial personality disorder, but it’s believed to have a more severe form than sociopaths.

It’s important to know that people have many personality traits. Just because someone may act aggressively or exhibit slefishness doesn’t mean they are a socipath. However, if they repeatedly show more than three things described below, you may want to realize you’re dealing with a sociopath.

Without further ado, here are some signs that can help you spot a sociopath!

  1. This makes total sense. Sociopaths can be very charming, but once that mask comes off, watch out!!! and yes they do like to hold positions of power. They can be very successful, but they tend to be quite ruthless as well which is why they get to the top I suppose. With that being said, they do not have to many friends as a rule and the only ones they do have, usually are paid to be around, not true friends. I would like to see an article comparing Sociopaths to Narcissist, I believe they have some of the same traits!
