7. A hunger for power and dominance

Sociopaths are commonly found at the heads of governments, corporations, and positions of great power. This may be no coincidence, as sociopathic people have a tendency to be power-hungry and may spend a lot of effort and time attaining positions where they can dominate, control, and have authority over others.

Once the power is in their hands, they commonly misuse and abuse it in ways that are destructive, irresponsible, and harmful to others. According to psychologists, the scariest part is that it’s not easy to spot a sociopath. That’s because these people may be well-dressed, charming, polished, and successful.

They may take part in charitable activities or causes not because they care but because they know it makes them look good.

  1. This makes total sense. Sociopaths can be very charming, but once that mask comes off, watch out!!! and yes they do like to hold positions of power. They can be very successful, but they tend to be quite ruthless as well which is why they get to the top I suppose. With that being said, they do not have to many friends as a rule and the only ones they do have, usually are paid to be around, not true friends. I would like to see an article comparing Sociopaths to Narcissist, I believe they have some of the same traits!
