Literally being silent
Sometimes when couples clash, one partner doesn’t want to talk anymore and ends up completely shutting down. We completely get it. But ignoring the person you’re spending your life with and giving them the silent treatment is a subtle relationship issue.
While needing space is healthy and normal, the silent treatment ultimately cuts off communication. Plus, people usually give the silent treatment precisely when communication is needed most, like during stressful periods in a relationship or after an argument.
Rather than outright ignoring them, clearly express your desire for quiet time by telling your partner that you need a break from talking.
