1. A constant feeling of agitation

One of the first signs of anxiety that those over 50 might notice is that they are suddenly feeling more agitated than they used to. Usually, this feeling comes out of nowhere, or at least this is how you can perceive it, and it can make you feel uneasy.

This happens because when you are feeling anxious, your sympathetic nervous system becomes more active, which can make you sense various sensations in your body, such as a dry mouth, sweaty palms, a racing pulse, and shaky hands.

These symptoms appear when your body gets ready to respond to the threat because your brain thinks you’ve perceived a potential danger approaching. This increases the rate of your heart, and it also takes some of the blood from your digestive system and delivers it to your muscles, making you more prepared in case you need to run or fight.

And what your body does is exceptional and incredibly helpful in cases of real danger; this can be debilitating in your everyday life in normal conditions, and it can create more distress. This is one of the signs of anxiety that scares many people, and this is why discussing it with a specialist is recommended.
