6 Tips On Dealing With Toxic in-Laws This Easter

Learn To Set Boundaries

One of the most practical ways of dealing with toxic in-laws is to set boundaries that allow you to distance yourself from them. Unfortunately, toxic in-laws habitually refuse to accept their place and will ignore any limitations you attempt to install.

Once all the family members arrive, don’t spill your guts about everything that’s happening in your life, and establish limits around what you ask everyone else. Most of us want to be accepted and liked, especially by our spouse’s family members.

And sometimes, we do way too much for them at our own expense. Just because their staying with you over Easter doesn’t mean you have to be at their beck and call 24/7. You may have a set yoga class in the morning that you don’t want to skip while they’re staying with you.

Someone else can cook everyone’s breakfast. Your home is not a five-star bed and breakfast. And you don’t need to be mentally and physically exhausted by the time everyone leaves!
