6. Find a doctor who understands you

This is something that can help you a lot to cope with health anxiety. Unfortunately, many doctors don’t comply with the demands of people with hypochondria, which creates a vicious cycle for them of feeling isolated by fear and never receiving reassurance.

When doctors see patients who struggle with health anxiety, they believe there’s no harm in providing tests. While this may seem like the quickest solution to diminish someone’s concerns, it often doesn’t provide relief. These people don’t feel relaxed or calm when their testing results are within a healthy range. Perhaps you’ve been in the same situation.

So you’re searching for another physician who will follow their demands to retest or who will provide a diagnosis you’re satisfied with. A doctor who recognizes and understands your patterns of hypochondria won’t reinforce your concerns and will guide you toward healthier coping mechanisms to overcome your fears.

Find a doctor who you can trust, who understands you, and who helps you learn how to cope with health anxiety.
