Keep something that once belonged to them

While it’s true that you can’t keep everything ( the process of throwing out their stuff is difficult, anyway), keeping a couple of meaningful things should help. Whether it’s an item they once had or something else they gave you, it might bring you comfort and even help you feel close to the one you love. There’s a recent study that shows how keeping the belongings of your deceased one might increase sadness. Well, not all grievers feel the same, as for some, it might bring a lot of comforts, so make sure you choose the option that suits you best.

Enjoy comfort foods

When I say comfort food, I mean the foods that dearly remind you of your loved one. Make that recipe your loved one really liked or eat one of his/her favorite dishes. This way, you might bring back amazing memories, and even connect with your loved one in everyday activities, such as cooking and eating.

Experience their presence

It’s fairly common to feel the presence of the one you loved. Whether it’s just a feeling, or a specific sound made by the wind or a bird, or any other thing that could resemble a sign from your loved one, I think you should accept it. In fact, in this matter, studies have been more open to the idea of feeling the presence of a deceased loved one as a way to cope with grief. So if you’re constantly feeling your loved one’s presence, make sure you feel it without apology or any kind of worry that you might be crazy! It’s totally normal, and a good way to keep bonds with the one you love.
