Your partner is a stranger

Sleeping next to someone you’ve just gotten into an argument with can feel strange. They hurt your feelings, and now you return to your shared bed, and it can feel like your partner is a total stranger.

You might even start telling yourself that you never really knew them in the first place. You begin to think about your partner’s personality and focus only on the negative things about them rather than all the wonderful and good things they make you feel.

Give your partner some unexpected kindness rather than letting this subtle relationship issue fester. They could even be feeling the same way. Show them that you love them no matter what through your actions, and they’ll be more inclined to do the same thing.

Becoming a more effective partner is the best way to ensure a loving relationship. Remember all the good things about your other half that they’ve shown you throughout the years.

And begin showing the good parts of yourself again, as well. Your partner will feel compelled to do the same.
