Your liver creates more blood sugar when you are stressed out to give you an energy boost. Your body might be unable to cope with this additional glucose surge if you experience chronic stress. That’s why your chance of developing type 2 diabetes may rise if you experience chronic stress for a long period of time. Besides that, your digestive system may also become upset by the sudden increase in hormones, elevated heart rate, and rapid breathing.
