Don’t you ever underestimate the power of one simple touch? It can do wonders when you are trying to convince someone to do something for you.

All you have to do is make casual interpersonal contact when you are interacting with someone. This is subliminal touching. Many times, just a simple touch on the hand or on the shoulder can make people feel closer and warmer to you.

Although you frequently hear this piece of advice in the context of love and romance, it’s a highly effective mind trick that can be used whenever you’re attempting to be viewed favorably. Research by the University of Mississippi and Rhodes College, for instance, discovered that waiters at a restaurant who softly touched the customers they served earned considerably bigger tips.
