4. Your partner is constantly telling you what to do

You and your partner have been in a relationship for a while. Things seem to be going well, but there is also something that keeps bugging you. At first, you didn’t know what to call it. This new feeling was strange and intrusive. It was always there, somewhere in the back, lurking.

After a while, you finally grasped it, and things began to make sense. You were not feeling like yourself anymore. Your partner was there, trying to make things go their way. Every little thing that you did was not yours. It was actually theirs.

“Do you really need to take that shirt? Why not take this one instead of that?” Does this sound familiar? Your partner is always there trying to “help” you, be it a small choice like what to eat for dinner or an important decision that could change your life.

This is a clear sign that something is off in your relationship. If your loved one is doing this, they might be suffering from low self-esteem, and by controlling your life, they might feel like they are also controlling theirs.
