1. Be mindful of the present moment

One of the first things you can do to cope with health anxiety is to practice mindfulness. When you spend time worrying about whether you are potentially ill or thinking over and over again about a symptom, your mind is focused on the future rather than on the present moment.

Hypochondria keeps you imprisoned in the thought patterns of what illness or disease you may develop and what symptoms you’re experiencing. If this sounds familiar, try to adopt a strategy that shifts your focus to the present moment.

There are many things you can try, but go for something that you like and works for you. This can include spending time with friends, cuddling your cat, going for a mindful walk, or practicing regular meditation. Activities like these will keep your attention immersed in the present moment and help you cope with health anxiety.
