6 Tips On Dealing With Toxic in-Laws This Easter

Manage Your Expectations

Toxic in-laws aren’t generally able to take responsibility for their actions. They’ll always find a way to twist the truth, gaslight you, and manipulate certain situations. So to others, they’ll come across as the victim and you the cause of their pain.

This can be a problematic behavior to manage because your toxic in-laws will shine at weaving a story and encouraging others to believe them over you.

Just one toxic person is enough to divide an entire family, twisting a cunning web of lies and manipulation to turn you into the black sheep that all blame can be placed upon.

So once this person shows up for Easter, make sure you go into the situation by setting realistic expectations. This way, you can avoid becoming frustrated or angry with your spouse’s family. It’s unavoidable that there will be disagreements and some differences.

But don’t try to change toxic people or assume that things will be different this time around. Instead, seek to find some common ground with them.
