4. They have trouble with money management

Your electricity bill comes in, and you see that the previous month has not been paid. That is kind of strange. The one who is in charge of money management and paying bills is your spouse. They like to do that, and they have always been good at it. They are very organized, and you can always count on them. So what happened this month?

This is a classic early-stage dementia warning sign. The management of money becomes a hard task, and people who suffer from this can find it a real challenge to keep up with bills and expenses.

At first, it may look like a normal part of the aging process, but it is going to get significantly worse. So, if you notice that your spouse has trouble with the way they manage money, take care because this might be an obvious sign of dementia.

Thank you for your post on Dementia. My wife and I are in our eighties and we are still travaling by car to vacations here in the states. We have travaled to South America and Europe in group plans. So far I beleive we haven’t had problems but I am interested in staying informed of Dementia.

I’ve been seeing a lot of these signs in my husband for the last 5 years or more, but it’s gotten worse in the last 2 years!
He’s now 70 years old & we’ve been married for over 45 years!
