7. Focus on mental growth

…by constantly challenging your brain with new information and keeping it active. For instance, it’s never too late to begin learning a new language if you know you’re passionate about it.

Seeing yourself succeed at something will boost your self-esteem and also make you happy. Remind yourself once in a while what the things are that make you happy, so you can do them whenever you’re feeling low or unmotivated.

8. Maintain a healthy body weight

You’ve probably heard this a lot, but maintaining an optimal body weight according to your height is crucial for both mental and physical health.

Start slowly by following a non-restrictive diet that’s full of protein and healthy carbs, and stay away from sugary beverages as much as possible. And if it’s possible, squeeze in two or three days per week of exercise. You don’t need to force yourself into doing something heavy; keep it as light as possible. Even a simple, fast-paced walk in the nearest park counts as exercising.

You may be reticent in believing that this is a way by which you buy happiness, but in time you will notice that every little thing counts and contributes to your overall happiness.
