They always misinterpret situations

They can be wonderful deception detectors, but all they see are nothing but lies, deception, and danger. Paranoia after 60 makes them see these things, even when they don’t exist. For instance, if there were five lies in a particular situation, they would automatically see 10.

The phenomenon is also known as distorted cognitive distortion. This is basically what happens when you interpret things in a very distorted fashion that matches your beliefs about reality. Their reality is completely different, and they might exaggerate the impact of any situation.

They might even accuse you of having bad intentions. Generally, their reality is pessimistic, dangerous, and extremely toxic. They automatically assume the worst in every situation, and they are fully prepared to see it, so they end up seeing it everywhere, even when it’s not the case.
