Change

In a perfect world, you and your partner will continue developing together as time passes. But that can sometimes be easier said than done. Some people change and realize they’ve outgrown their partner or the relationship.

This subtle relationship issue is relatively common among older couples who are retired. When they were working, the differences that evolved over time were harder to detect.

But now that the distractions from the relationship are no longer a factor, it becomes more apparent that they don’t have as much in common as they once did or changed their views on how they want to handle life moving forward.

Change is inevitable. If both spouses aren’t changing and moving forward in the same direction, the relationship won’t work and your subtle relationship issues will become not so subtle after all.
