2. Lurking around your neighborhood has become a habit

If you’re constantly bumping into the same person whenever you leave the house, go to the supermarket, or go to your workplace, that’s a major sign that someone is stalking you! While seeing the same people in the place you used to hang out is not a problem, seeing them later lurking in your neighborhood when you get home should be something to worry about. Since multiple meetings might be an indication of stalking.

3. Weird messages on social media

There is no surprise that with all this social media access, it’s easier than ever to stalk people. Especially if they have everything posted publicly! A friend of mine dealt with a stalker who was trying to contact her through social media even after she made it clear she didn’t want anything from him. He became a bit creepy when they started talking, and after a while, she blocked him. A couple of days after this, a lot of blank accounts started to follow her. The fact that she blocked him didn’t help much; moreover, he probably tried to hack into her account plenty of times and created various fake profiles to reach her.

To avoid a situation where someone is stalking you, make sure you keep everything private and pay attention to whom you’re accepting on your list. Try to keep a smaller circle of virtual friends, and if you already know them in real life, that’s even better.

Be aware of the fact that internet stalking is taken just as seriously as traditional stalking, and the majority of law enforcement organizations have cybercrime teams. Report the harassment to the internet service provider you use and your local police authorities if it occurs online.
