4. Blinking

For more signs of lying, pay attention again to the person’s eyes. Just as lying can result in dryness in the mouth, it can also result in dryness in the eyes, as experts point out.

This may lead to excessive blinking or squinting in an attempt to stop the uncomfortable sensation in the eyes. Therapists also suggest that liars may also blink to seem more at ease with the conversation.

While blinking is usually unconscious and involuntary, you should keep in mind that liars tend to blink more often than honest people because they want to appear relaxed and calm.

On the flip side, if the person you’re talking to isn’t blinking at all, that should also raise red flags. If they can tell their story without batting an eyelid, then they may be lying.

Also, when someone lies, unless the person is a psychopath, the pupils in their eyes will get smaller, after they get accustomed to the light. That just takes a minute or so.
