4. They won’t live in the past

Next on our list of things that emotionally intelligent people never do is dwell on things that have happened in the past. Failure can erode your self-confidence and make it difficult to believe you will achieve a better outcome in the future.

In most cases, failure comes from taking risks and aiming to achieve something that isn’t easy. People with high emotional intelligence know that success lies in their ability to face and accept failure, and they can’t do this when they are living in the past.

They know that anything worth achieving is going to require them to take some risks, and they won’t allow failure to stop them from believing in their ability to succeed. When you live in the past, your past becomes your present, preventing you from going forward.
