Emotionally intelligent people will never hold grudges against someone. The negative emotions that come with staying angry at someone who treated you badly are actually a stress response. Just thinking about the person or the event involved sends your body into fight-or-flight mode.

When a real threat is imminent, this reaction is vital to your survival, but when a threat is something that happened in the past, holding onto that stress wreaks havoc on your mind and body and can have serious health consequences over time.

Moreover, researchers at Emory University point out that holding onto stress contributes to high blood pressure and even cardiovascular disease. Emotionally intelligent people know holding a grudge against someone is pointless, and they know when to let it go.
