How can you tell if someone is jealous of you? Here are 13 signs you shouldn’t ignore!

1. Jealous people act overly supportive and give you insincere compliments

Let’s start by clarifying that no jealous people will ever admit they are jealous of you. So, what they will try to do is give you lots of insincere compliments and act very supportive. Everyone has that one “friend” who’s always smiling and playing the role of an angel. A jealous person will always smile and act nice around you, but once you are gone, they will start gossiping about you behind your back.

Due to their secret envy of your success, jealous people will pause for a long silent moment in their speech before congratulating you. Be careful and pay attention to what you confide in others.

2. Jealous people are excellent copycats

According to psychologists, jealous people are really good copycats. When someone envies you, they will try to imitate every single thing that you do, because, like that, they feel they might arrive at your level one day. Even if you can find flattering as first this kind of behavior, it can become really irritating. It’s not pleasant at all to have someone always copying your hairstyle, your walking style, your talking style, or your dressing style. All you can do if this happens to you is to completely ignore their behavior. They will probably get bored and can’t fake it for a too long time and, finally, go back to their reality.

For the copycats, copying you is like a “who did it better game”, they see everything as a competition they are scared of losing.

3. Jealous people always try to drown out your achievements

This happens when their achievements are significantly smaller than yours. Jealous people try to talk as much as possible about them, compliment themselves alone, and try to find a better story for whatever you are saying. Pay attention to how these people celebrate their victories and you can easily understand who you should stay away from. They will do everything they can to let all the world know about what they just did. They fight with their insecurities and want to make sure that no matter what you succeed in doing, what they do is better.

Have you ever sincerely expressed your feelings to one of your friends and waited for a piece of kind advice, but all they did was talk about themselves and become the main character in the subject? Well, you should immediately cut out from your life these kinds of fake friends.

4. Jealous people purposely give you bad advice

Since they don’t want to be even more successful and achieve more beautiful things in your life than you already did, these kind of fake friends will do their best to purposely give you bad advice. If they are already jealous of you, they will try to discourage you from doing new things, just because they can handle more achievements. So, in case you are excited about something and you are sharing your experience with the ones around, and with their answer they will try to point out any conceivable flaws is a sign of jealousy. You just stay away from them and don’t share anything too important or personal if you are not sure that those who are listening are your real friends and wish you the best.

5. Jealous people gossip more than others

Research has shown that those with high levels of anxiety and aggression tend to gossip A LOT. People who don’t like you will try to spread false rumors about you. Ruining your reputation makes them incredibly happy. All of this is because they want to feel superior even though, in reality, they are extremely insecure about themselves.

6. Jealous people try to outdo in every possible way

These people are very competitive and they want to steal all the glory. They can’t accept that you can do anything better than them. Their competitiveness can be easily observed at the workplace, but even if it’s extremely tempting to confront them, refuse to enter their game and play by their rules. You are smarter than that.

7. Jealous people tend to cross their legs

According to a body language expert, jealous people feel the need to cross their legs. This way, they feel safer. It’s like a protection wall they use when they are neat the people that make them feel jealous. If your “friends” cross their legs when you share with them your achievements, they are feeling insecure and jealous.

8. Jealous people criticize everything you do

Have you ever met someone who criticizes everything that you do? Jealous people will point out mistakes about everything that you do. Stay away from friends who can’t be happy with your achievements. Don’t be afraid of cutting them out of your life and make sure you surround yourself with beautiful people that know your worth and respect your success.

9. Jealous people might do a victory dance each time you fail

Have you ever thought about how your enemies celebrate each time you fail? Most of the time they don’t do it, but trust us, each time they are alone and nobody can judge them, they move their hips, while celebrating your fails. When they are around you, they will be very careful with what they express, controlling their face and gestures. But if you pay close attention, you will see how their eyes become immediately sad.

10. Jealous people pretend to do you a favor

Each time you need their advice, they pretend they’ll do everything for you. Basically, they want you to believe that they’re the best friends you could ever ask for. If, for example, you share your plans for the weekend with your “friends”, telling them that you want to go for a picnic and they immediately start talking about the big rain they heard is about to come… they are clearly jealous of you. They will say the first thing that comes into their mind to create doubt in yours.

11. Jealous people will try to humiliate you in front of others

They want to establish their superiority in front of others which is why they will humiliate you when they have the chance. Ruining your reputation, by making fun of you in public, will make them feel happier. It’s not easy for them, at all, to deal with their insecurities and they’ll do whatever they can to make you suffer. Destroying “your perfect” life and achievements would make them feel valuable.

12. Jealous people refuse to admit that you actually earned your success

A jealous person will never admit your success! They will try to find all kinds of reasons just to avoid saying something good. For example, they can say: “she did it because she has good connections with the manager”, or “he got the promotion because he oils the boss”. They will absolutely refuse to admit that you actually earned your success.

13. Jealous people hate you for no reason

They will never admit that they hate you because it will inevitably add to their insecurity.
