8 Tips for De-Stressing After a Conflict

4. Be open towards the other person

One of the best tips for de-stressing is to ask questions. Yes, you’ve heard me very well! You both may indeed need time to process the conflict, but after it’s done, with a calmer tone, try to be curious (but also calm) and ask questions to show genuine interest in how the other person is feeling. In other words, try to put yourself in their shoes and be empathic!

They may have been building up to this moment over time; no one may have ever listened to them before; or they may be experiencing psychological problems. In any circumstance, show compassion. The words “I’m so sorry to hear that. This must have been awful” might be comforting or even helpful.
