Include Them In Your Plans

We all know that sticking to your boundaries this Easter can come with a massive mound of drama. It’s not like your toxic in-law needs an excuse to create it for you, right?

They can practically draw it out of thin air! Hostile reactions, public scenes, and blowing things out of proportion are classic behavioral patterns of a toxic person, and your partner’s family is undoubtedly no exception.

So how can you manage this? Try including them in the planning of this holiday. A team effort makes every family member feel like an important part of the squad.

If someone doesn’t like to bake or cook, have them bring something to drink, plates and napkins, or a game you can all play together. You might not ever think of asking for help because you know the toxic person is very pushy.

But this might actually be a good way of calming them down a bit. The idea is to make them feel useful and important, so they don’t start with their regularly scheduled drama!
