8. You speak poorly of their parents
One of the biggest mistakes grandparents make regarding their grandkids is speaking negatively about their parents.
The relationship with your children and grandkids should be seen as a team where everyone supports each other.
Children, in most cases, will be closer to their parents, so they will tell them what they talk about with their grandparents. If you have negative opinions about their parents, try to keep them to yourself; otherwise, you risk damaging your relationships with your family.
Children will remember what you have discussed with them, and they will also remember their parents’ reactions when they tell them. In the future, they will most likely try to avoid you or hold back when they want to tell you something.
