What do we really know about schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that results in a number of recognizable symptoms, peculiar experiences, and odd behaviors. This mental illness can cause various clusters of symptoms in different people. It’s probable that these various clusters entail slightly distinct disease mechanisms. Some patients experience delusions and hallucinations and have a hard time focusing on things.

However, even after years of studies, researchers still don’t fully understand the factors that lead some people to develop this certain mental illness. Most of the doctors say that while genes do not directly cause schizophrenia, they do increase a person’s risk of getting the condition. A genetic susceptibility to this disease is one of many potential causes being researched by scientists.

The ugly truth is that all people who suffer from it need lifelong medications. Early intervention may assist in controlling symptoms before major issues arise and may enhance the prognosis over the long run. In today’s article, we will take a deeper look into the risk factors for this terrible mental illness. Click on the next page to see the first one!
