Blind Obedience
The end game for a brainwasher is blind obedience. This is where the victim will follow orders without questioning them. This is typically accomplished by the manipulator positively rewarding their victim when they’re pleased and negatively punishing them when they don’t.
Vocalizing a phrase repeatedly is also a good way of controlling a person. Not only will repeating the same words over and over calm the target’s brain, but research has shown that the repetitive and analytical parts of our brains aren’t synonymous.
This means that we can only do one or the other. So what better way to stop those doubting thoughts than by chanting?
Degradation
If you’re involved in a relationship where your significant other tries to degrade you in any way or tries to extinguish your self-esteem, it could be a brainwashing tactic.
Sarcastic comments, too much criticizing, humiliating, belittling, yelling, threatening, and verbally attacking you to make you feel guilty are all signs of abuse.
