7. They won’t say yes unless they really want to

Another thing emotionally intelligent people never do is say yes when they actually don’t feel like it. Do you also do that?

Research conducted at the University of California in San Francisco has shown that the harder you find it to say no, the more likely you are to experience burnout, stress, and even depression. According to therapists, saying no is definitely a major challenge for most people.

In fact, “No” is a powerful word, but you shouldn’t be afraid to wield it. When it’s time to use it, emotionally intelligent people avoid phrases like “I’m not certain” or “I don’t think I can”. Saying no to a new commitment honors your existing ones and gives you the chance to successfully fulfill them.
