11 Common Pieces of Advice That Are Actually Bad

9. “Man up!”

This is one piece of advice that is beyond toxic; in fact, it is pretty damaging for everyone. What if you’re a man who suffers from a certain mental condition? You just have to feel better in an instant only because you’re stronger than a woman? Totally not. And because of these statements, a lot of men are afraid of going to a therapist. Recent studies have shown that about 25% fewer men than women choose to go to a therapist in order to solve their issues.

It’s not a shame to cry or to struggle, even if you’re a man! Remember that every time someone may say to you, “Man up” or “Be a man!”
