Infidelity can be a huge shock…How do we deal with it?

When you’ve discovered that your partner has admitted to infidelity, it can feel like the entire world has come crashing down on you. First off, you should know that this is an entirely normal emotional response, and you should take the time to process it.

But once you’ve gotten over the initial shock, it’s time to seriously consider your relationship. Can it be fixed? Do you want to repair what was damaged? Are the time and energy you would need to put into it worth it? If the answers to these questions are no, that’s perfectly okay.

You’re under no obligation to continue a relationship after an act of infidelity has been committed. But on the other hand, if you still want to make things work, there are a few ways you can begin to rebuild trust and commitment with your significant other and make sense of the madness.

So if you’re wondering how to cope with infidelity, here are 9 ways most therapists say you can get over this hump.
