2. You have trouble falling or staying asleep

There are many signs of anxiety, and trouble sleeping is one of them. Many seniors and people who suffer from anxiety disorders report having this symptom. It is very common for them to wake up more than once during the night and then have trouble falling asleep again.

Anxiety is strongly related to sleep because that sense of danger will not let you rest in an appropriate way. When you are sleeping, you are more susceptible to potential dangers, and because of this, your body tries to protect you.

According to some research, those who suffer from insomnia can be 10 to 17 times more likely to experience the onset of other mental disorders, including anxiety. It is clear that insomnia and anxiety are strongly related, but what we don’t know is the exact cause of why this is happening. There are more theories like the one we mentioned above, but the true reason is not really known.

One thing remains true: if someone who suffers from anxiety treats the symptoms of this disorder, the symptoms of insomnia will improve as well.
